I Like My Steak Well Done


Now most of you are rolling your eyes and sighing in disbelief when you read the title of this entry. Yes people, I like to order my steaks well done. I get the same reaction every time from Tony, “yeah could you believe that she grew up on a farm where they grew their own beef? And she likes her steak well done?!” My dad of many talents, along with being a wheat farmer, has also grown his talents in the art of raising steer and providing THE BEST beef I have ever had in my whole life. Steak was just a normal occurrence in our house, so I realized how much I had taken it for granted until I moved out of my parents house and had to spend my hard earned money on my own beef.

Regardless of how I like my steak cooked, I have eaten at some of the BEST steak restaurants in the Seattle area. John Howie is a favorite in Bellevue, Daniel’s Broiler provides the best prime rib I have ever had, and the fine dining restaurant Canlis serves melt-in-your mouth Filet Mignon and Wagyu beef even when it IS well done. Is your mouth watering yet because mine is!

Last night, Tony and I went on somewhat of an impromptu date with some dear friends of ours in the SLU (South Lake Union) of Seattle. We dined at a newer restaurant owned by the infamous Beecher's Cheese, called The Butcher’s Table. (The Butcher's Table) With its urban and layback environment, The Butcher’s Table is sure to make you feel relaxed and excited to try the tantalizing beef they have to offer and explore the compatible side dishes. Tony and I both sipped on a cocktail with the main liquor in the drink being Scotch. This definitely begin the experience on a good foot as we enjoyed our Beef Fat Fries along with our drinks. Tony has always been an adventurous eater and ordered the bone marrow which he thoroughly enjoyed to the last bite. I enjoyed my “well done” rib eye with the “steak set” which are components that are chosen by the chef to pair with your choice of meat. Tonight it was served with roasted asparagus, mushrooms, potatoes and a tangy horseradish sauce. Even after Tony expressed his disappointment of how I liked my steak cooked, our waitress graciously took my order and said, you can have your steak any way YOU want.

Now that summer is becoming more of a reality, I have been able to bring out more flowy tops. This top that I wore is still at Nordstrom and at 40% off!
