We Like to Stay “Cultured” (The Seattle Art Museum)

Tony and I are ALWAYS looking for events and things to do and we are fortunate enough that Seattle has so many different things to offer. When I first learned about the SeattleArt Museums showcase of the talented and advent garde artist, Yayoi Kusama, I knew that we HAD to go.
By far to most stimulating exhibit!

Introducing Donovan to the arts was something I had always wanted him to appreciate being that my mom is an extremely talented artist and has exposed to us growing up an appreciation for art.

Here’s a bit of information that you’ll need to know if you plan a trip there:

·         Pre ordered tickets that you can get online have been sold out since April. You will need to buy your ticket at the general ticket line HOWEVER……the show is so popular that it is not uncommon for the tickets to sell out for the day within the first hour of the museum opening their doors.

·         SAM open their doors at 10:00 am and close at 5:00 pm on weekends and 10 am to 9 pm during some days of the week. Plan ahead and get there at least an hour early to wait in line. Yes, a very LONG line…..Once you get into the museum, then be prepared to wait in another line to get the tickets.
Waiting in line.....

Watching his face show while waiting!

·         Once you get your ticket, you may not have access into the exhibit right away. We waiting in line for about an hour and a half, so we bought our tickets around 10:30 am. Our exhibit time was set for 12:15 PM. That was PERFECT for us because we headed to brunch in Capitol Hill and came back.

·         Get there 10 minutes early for your exhibit time. This will ensure that you hear an introduction and guidelines to follow once you get in.

·         Once you get in, expect to wait in line (yet again) to stand inside the infinity mirror exhibits. To keep the line moving, they have 2-3 people at a time and you are allowed 20-30 seconds inside the exhibit. The plus of that is that you are most likely going to be in there alone with your friends or family and you get EXTREMELY good opportunities to take pictures.

·         Plan to take your time! This truly is an amazing and interesting art exhibit so try not to plan a lot on the day you go.

Our brunching experience took us to Bar Melusine up on Capitol Hill. The food, the people, the light colors, all combined into an amazing brunch for Donovan, Tony and I. Bar Melusine has beautifully crafted food and while sitting there, it was obvious to me that they specialize in oysters and displayed a fun and inviting oyster bar. DEFINITELY a must try and let me know how you like it!

There's still time to go see this exhibit being that it runs until September 10th! Totally worth the wait and the price and of course this will give you chance for amazing photos!
XOXO
