Flower Power
Seattle area offers so many options for beach front
experiences. We are so fortunate to be surrounded by the Puget Sound and I
honestly could not imagine myself not living by some sort of body of water. One
of the most well-known and sought after beach for a perfect stroll, bike ride
or long board to ride along is Alki Beach located in the outskirts of West Seattle.
A couple of years back, Tony and I had both purchased
road bikes with Tony’s intention of long bike rides and maybe SOMEDAY riding in
the STP and with my intention of going on leisure bike rides that do not extend
more than 3 miles. After we had Donovan, we were given a bike trailer that was
PERFECT to stick little D in there and ride around our neighborhood. We then
expanded our bike riding adventure to Alki and have made it a tradition to park
right next to the West Seattle Bridge and ride our bikes along the scenic
pathway to Alki Beach. This short, 2 mile ride, has you go past the famous
Salty’s restaurant that provides one of the best Sunday brunches, ride along
the water line of the Puget Sound, pass through the water taxi which is a short
ride from the Pier front of Seattle right into West Seattle and find some of
the most scenic pictures of the place needs across the water.
An iconic building that Alki is well known for is an extremely charming and unique
house/apartments that I and others refer to as the Flower House. Among the beautiful and
upscale condos and apartment that would be a dream to own, lives the Flower
House. You certainly will not miss this display of any flower you can imagine
while you pass by it and as we rode our bikes closer to it, Donovan was so
happy to finally have made it.
There is water fountain that is open to those who stop
and admire the scenery and a little dog dish for your pets to drink out of. The
best part of this house is the swing that once you sit in it, you feel relaxed
and like you are have discovered a secret garden.
Today the tide was extremely low, which gave Donovan the
opportunity to dig into the wet sand and collect all sorts of sea shells to
bring home.
I cannot believe that August is almost here and that we
have another month to enjoy this delightful summer! Have a great week you guys
and be sure to visit the Flower House next time you past through Alki!
XOXO
Tiff
