Embrace the Warmth!
I have decided to bring out my inner "cosmetology educator" self out and talk about hair. Khloe Kardashian…..who DOESN”T love her hair?!?!?
Honestly, when it seemed she became blonde overnight, SHE was my inspiration to
become that PERFECT, COOL (tone that is), LIGHT blonde. Well, here’s the
reality of my dream:
1.
I have the darkest, “Asian” black hair that
lifts that gold/orange during the first stage of bleach.
2.
Being completely blonde does not flatter my skin
tone.
3.
If I am ok with the ends of my hair being
“angry”, “gummy”, and fried, then yes, make me blonde!
4.
I need be prepared to dedicate money and more
time if I want to upkeep blonde in my hair.
5.
And my hair will ALWAYS ALWAYS have warm tones
(gold, orange, yellow) instead of those coveted, cool tones (icy, beige, grey)
no matter how hard I try to make it blonde.
First off….what is “warmth” and what is “cool”? Warmth
always comes out in any hair color when you put bleach on the hair to make it
lighter. The darker your hair is, the stronger the warmth will be (orange), the
natural lighter your hair is, the less warmth it will be.
This picture is slightly deceiving because of lighting. My hair does look cool but there is quite a bit of warmth .
So being that my hair
is darker, hello orange! This is one of the reasons I keep my hair short!
Shorter hair will have more fullness and healthiness to it, so I am able to
bleach it a few times over to make it lighter and cooler. So what if my hair
does turn orange in some spots? That is when a toner can be used! A toner is a
temporary hair color that is applied to the hair when wet to remove some of the
warm tones so that I am not screaming orange. Toners have pigments in them that
help cancel out the warm tones; keep in mind that they will eventually fade and
shampoo out, which is another reason why I only shampoo my hair once to twice a
week.
NOT MY HAIR!!! I WISH! This is a beautiful example of a cool, ashy tone blonde.
PRODUCTS! I have tried a lot of different products which
is natural for someone who is in the cosmetology industry. Here is a list of my
go to products that help add moisture and strength back into my hair and keep
my hair safe from heating tools (I use some sort of heating tool EVERY DAY
whether it be a curling iron, hair dryer, or flat iron)
1.
Shampoo and Conditioner: Redkin All Soft Shampoo
and Redkin Extreme Conditioner. I highly recommend to mix your shampoos and
conditioners! This helps cater to what your hair needs which in my case, my
hair needs moisture (from the All Soft shampoo) and protein (from the Extreme
conditioner). My hair can handle extremely moisturizing shampoos and
conditioners because it is coarse textured and will not feel weighed down. If
you are fine textured hair, look into volumizing or that is not heavy with
moisturizing agents.
Tony can be a good hand model for me haha.
2.
Heat protectant: Bumble and Bumble Hair Dressers Invisible OilPrimer. I COULD BATHE IN THIS! It smell amazing and I apply it after I shampoo.
I will either leave it in the air dry OR use my hair dryer to dry it in. Either
way, it will add softness to my hair and it is an excellent heat protectant on
my fragile, blonde ends from the bleach.
3.
Hair spray: MoroccanOil and Redkin Forceful 23. I love a good, strong hold hairspray! Both are not crunchy feeling, have a good hold for curls.
4.
Finishing Oil: Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil. I apply this
to the ends before I curl my hair. Like I mentioned before, I only shampoo once
a week, so in the mornings I will apply the oil on my hair to smooth out the
“bed head” and then touch up my curls.
And that is it friends! Anytime you guys need help with
products, need recommendations or have any questions, let me know!
Xoxo
