I Scream, YOU Scream, Let’s Scream for Shug’s!

The best part about starting my blog has been giving me the opportunities to go out of my comfort zone and meet and talk to extremely talented people who have used their creativity, drive, talents and personality in starting their own businesses or owning a business. When trying to plan out Donovan’s birthday parties at this time of year, I always think of his favorite things and then start thinking of places we can celebrate. If you mention ice cream to Donovan he begins a little booty shaking dance and says, ice cream!!!!

So naturally an Ice Cream Social was in order and the very FIRST place that popped in my head was Shug’s Soda Fountain and Ice Cream. Pronounced like “sugar” but drop the “ar” and add the “s”, this gem is found right above Pike Place Market and is becoming a landmark within the historic market.

It’s incredible how this beautiful space has made a name for itself considering that it’s only opened its doors in May 2016.

Cute Décor in their party room

Being experienced business owners, Colleen and Paul have always had a dream to open a spot where people can come in and enjoy simply good and delicious ice cream and when doors began to open for them, they found themselves fulfilling their dreams.

Along with daughter, London Ann who is 3 years old, this little family has put their passion and charm into making Shug’s a memorable place for anyone who visits. Tony and I were fortunate to sit down with the lovely owner, Colleen, to complete the details of Donovan’s birthday party. Colleen was an amazing host to us while we chatted with her and immediately brought us champagne and my favorite sundae there, the S’mores sundae.

You have NOT LIVED until you have this S'mores Sundae!!!

Getting to know her really brought out a meaningful experience for both Tony and I and Shug’s quickly made its way into our hearts.

Colleen was born and raised in Seattle and it seemed appropriate to have her shop in the heart of Pike Place being that she has fond memories of visiting the market with her mom and her grandma. The ice cream itself comes from Lopez Island Creamery in Anacortes and having both Shug’s and Lopez Island Creamery in this relationship results in delicious results!

This pictures was from our very FIRST visit to Shug's back in March 2017

Shug’s is open 7 days a week and you can find Colleen there at least 5 of the days. Now that we are heading into fall, Shug’s has amazing espresso treats married with ice cream such as an affogato bar that will be perfect for a night cap for a date night!

We are COUNTING down the days for Donovan’s birthday party there and I cannot wait to share it with you! Be sure to visit Shug’s soon because I PROMISE you that you will have an amazing experience and a fulfilled sweet tooth!

XOXOXO
Tiff
