Styling Hair and Cotton Candy Drinks Make for the Perfect Sister Weekend
As our summer weekends begin to wrap up, I am trying to
cram in as much fun, summer events that I possibly can. Outdoor shopping, happy
hours on patios, etc… This last weekend, my sister, Tessa (read more about her
here), flew in from California and naturally I wanted to cram in as much fun
with her over weekend. So we ditched our two sons with Tony (love you Tone
Tone) and headed to Bellevue for a sister evening date.
After working for a cosmetology school as an educator, I
have had the pleasure of meeting so many amazing and talented people. One of my
favorite things to do and one way I keep in touch with the students is visit
them in the salon that they have chosen to work for. I just LOVE LOVE LOVE
seeing the work dynamic, culture, passion, and atmosphere in hair salons, so I
try to visit my past student and get a blow-out done (which is a special treat
for me because I HATE taking the time to shampoo my hair; I am a once a week
offender of shampooing it-sometimes I try to push it 1-1/2 weeks). This visit
guided me to the over-achiever (in a good way!), talented, friendly chair of
Dan Shin.
When I first had met Dan Shin, I knew right away he was going to take
this industry by storm with his high standard goals for himself, forward
thinking sense of street fashion and maturity and dedication to his talent of
hair. I had the pleasure of visiting and chatting with him while he meticulously
gave me the perfect blow out.
Dan Shin is
continuing to strive through his apprenticing program and as of right now,
achieving the men’s program. Visiting Dan Shin took me to the charming part of
Old Town Bellevue in a salon that best fits Danshin’s high standards.
Joe BaeSalon is owned by Joe Bae himself and the minute you walk in, you know right
away that beautifully crafted hair will be leaving the doors. You can tell that
Joe’s experience, determination, and high criteria for his hair artists will
continue to make this salon a landmark in the Old Town Bellevue area.
Afterwards, my sister and I went for drinks and dinner in
another part of Bellevue, taking us to The Bravern. The Sugar Factory has been
opened since last week, so naturally I had to check it out! This place is every
sugar addicts dreams!
It serves an array of candy infested drinks/goblets,
chocolate towers of milkshakes and fondues and huge portions of delicious food.
I mean, there's cotton candy in my drink!!!!
They are known for hosting celebrities (Mariah Carey was there for Bellevue’s
grand opening) and so the quality of EVERYTHING is very impressive. You will
find this sweet spot in on the 2nd floor of the Bravern mall. Just
like all of the restaurants there, you can get your parking validated (hey,
that’s an important factor in my opinion!) Donovan’s birthday is next month, so
this will be the place for his birthday celebration with Tony and I!
I hope you all
have a great Monday!!!! Let’s continue to enjoy our weekends and look forward
to fall!
XOXOXO
Tiff
