Leavenworth is where it’s at for the 4th!

Hotdogs, hamburgers, watermelon, ice cream, snow cones, drinks, potato salad, and chips! The all-American food. Combine that with bratwurst, spätzle, schnitzel, beer, large soft pretzels and sauerkraut and have you yourself the all American 4th of July in the heart of Leavenworth.

This year we decided to spend our 4th in Leavenworth, Washington and endure the drive to spend time with family. Not having any expectations on how this Bavarian-style village was going to celebrate the 4th, we were EXTREMELY surprised when we found out that they had a festival catered to all ages of kids and it was free! Here’s your guide to an amazing 4th of July in Leavenworth.

Stay

We stayed at the Obertal Inn right in the heart of downtown and only a few minutes’ walk to shopping, beer and wine tasting, food and ice cream! This was an EXCELLENT place to stay for convenience with the free parking that came with your stay and the outdoor living space area that was perfect for relaxing and for kids to play. We will ALWAYS stay here!

The best outdoor living space at our hotel!

Food

SOOOO many good places to eat and SO little time! There are great outdoor, “fast style” eateries that serve sausages and pretzels, beer and wine, and so many other good treats!

The Gingerbread Factory is your one stop sweet shop

These pretzels were the BEST after feeling a bit tipsy after wine tasting

Lunch at Stein

The adults partook in the distillery, Blue Spirits Distillery, for their tasting which was $10 for 3 tastings. Then we did a wine tasting at Wahoo Winery (formally Swakane Winery) which was $10 for 5 tastings.

4th of July festival

In the main street of town, they held a festival that was catered to kids and everything was free! They had face painting, temporary tattoos, games, snow cones, trucks for the kids to climb into, bouncy houses, and so much more!

The whole experience made it so that we did not miss the firework experience because naturally, fireworks were prohibited due to the fire awareness in the town. I mean, we do not want to burn down this wonderful place!

We are planning on going again next year and maybe we will see you there! Don’t you just LOVE summer activities? Have a great week everyone!
XOXO
